THE CITY ESCAPE into Sørlandet’s quiet inland
We follow the Otra river north to Vennesla, where the historic Tømmerrenna winds its way through forest, tunnels and across suspension bridges. Originally built to carry timber past the Vigelandsfossen waterfall, this remarkable wooden structure is today one of Southern Norway's most unusual walking experiences.
On the way back to Kristiansand, we stop at Ravnedalen — a romantic valley park created by General Wergeland and his soldiers in the 1870s. With dramatic cliffs, water, old trees and a peaceful garden atmosphere, it feels far removed from the busy cruise pier, even though it is close to the city centre.
Two places. One half-day. A quieter side of Sørlandet — shaped by timber, water, landscape and local history.

Meet your Guide:
Your tour is led by one of our trusted local guides — chosen for their local knowledge, storytelling ability and warm sense of hospitality.
Our guides know how to pace the day so it feels relaxed, personal and memorable. Along the way, they share stories of timber, river life, landscape, local characters and the quieter side of Southern Norway — the places most cruise guests never reach on their own.
Rather than offering a standard sightseeing tour, we focus on creating a calm and thoughtful escape from the busy port, with nature, history and local atmosphere woven together.
“We would rather host a small group well than a large group briefly. Everything we plan is paced for that.”
What guests say
The log flume was the surprise — we had never seen anything like it. By the time we reached Ravnedalen, it felt as if we had discovered a completely different side of Southern Norway.”
